Washington was nominated for his sixth oscar last year for his role in the film Flight, as an airline pilot with an addiction to Alcohol. The film brought in five times the money used to produce it, and as a result, Denzel earned $33 million last year.
8. Tom Cruise
Tom Cruise remains to be one of Hollywood's biggest stars, although his only real success of 2013 was the tail end of his film Jack Reacher, where he starred as an ex-military sniper. The film resulted in him earning $35 million.
7. Adam Sandler
Sandler's two main hits of 2013 were animated film Hotel Transylvania and Grown Ups 2, the sequel to the second highest grossing film of his career. The two films helped him earn $37 million in 2013.
6. Leonardo DiCaprio
DiCaprio's 2013 adaptation was one of his biggest successes to date behind Titanic, it topped $250 million at the box office making it the most successful film of director Baz Luhrmann's career. DiCaprio brought in $39 million in 2013 because of this success and others.
5. Dwayne Johnson
Also known as The Rock, Dwayne Johnson starred in two 2013 Box Office hits, Fast and Furious Six and GI Joe: Retaliation, these were both the highest grossing films of their respective franchises. Johnson earned $46 million in 2013 due to these successes.
4. Mark Wahlberg
Wahlberg's Box Office hit Ted, helps significantly in putting him in this top ten, grossing $550 million, eleven times it's budget. Wahlberg will star in the new Transformers film in 2014, his first ever Blockbuster. Wahlberg raked in $52 million in 2013.
3. Hugh Jackman
Jackman's biggest role of 2013, was in box office hit The Wolverine which grossed over $400 million, Jackman also starred in films such as Les Miserables and Prisoners last year, with Prisoners being nominated for an Academy Award. Jackman earned $55 million as a result.
2. Channing Tatum
Although mainly attended to for his good looks, they came in handy for his career as his film about his past as a male stripper (Magic Mike), grabbed the attention of probably most young women, because it grossed nearly 24 times it's budget of $7 million. As a result, Tatum earned $60 million last year.
1. Robert Downey Jr
Robert Downey Jr starred in the third highest grossing film of all time (Marvel Avengers Assemble) and benefited the most from the Marvel Comic inspired Box Office Phenomenon, earning a total of $75 million in 2013 and becoming the Highest Paid Actor of last year.
